I was playing in a big tournament last night on party poker and doing pretty well I had controlled myself and played a solid game until I got hungry and tired. Ya that is right I am a fat man and food and exercise influence my play. Sounds ridiculous I know but lets think about this and see where this train of thought leads.

So like I said I was playing well and it was nearing 10:30pm or so. My stack was just above avg (at around 6k in chips) and what started out with just over 700 players was now down to 130 players. And we went on break for 5 minutes, I had a little while before realized that I had not had anything to eat since lunch time and well as a fat man you can't go more than a few hours without shoving crap in your face. So I dashed out the door jumped in my truck and sped down the street to my local QT convenience store. I hurried to grab a fountain soda and filed it up as quick as it would go and then scurried over to the hot dog roller machine grabbed a hotdog threw it in a bun squirted some mustard on it then grabbed a bag of Doritos as I made my way to the cashier... all of this done in phenomenal time. Then the most dreaded thing of all happened a dumb middle aged woman was at the check out stand writing a check.. A freaking check! Who the hell uses checks anymore! I could not believe it did she not realize that I was getting dealt AA after AA as she slowly filled in the amounts in her check book and balanced her account before she tore the check out. My God woman use your atm card or a credit card or freaking pay in cash! Welcome to the 21st century! The woman was finally out of the way I handed the man a $10 bill grabbed my change and blew out the door leapt in my truck and headed back to the house. I play good tournament strategy.

So I arrive at the house and make my way to the computer sit down and I have missed a few hands nothing that I would not have folded anyway except 1 hand ... A-10 suited in the big blind and the flop was A-10-3... someone raised and everyone folded including me...but oh well such is life. And being fat and hungry cost me what was a sizeable pot considering the blinds, or I could choose to blame the old hag at the checkout line.

I am now back into the game and start stuffing my face with the chips soda and hotdog. I fully realize that this is not a healthy meal but it is what I had time for at the moment. About 30 minutes go by and I am starting to feel sleepy etc and thoughts of I would not be this drained if I exercised came into my mind and my mind started to wonder and I had thoughts of starting a exercise routine and such and started surfing the web looking at health products and routines and all sorts of other stuff. Basically I was getting tired and bored which I attribute to a lack of exercise and nutrition.

I notice that I get dealt 10-10 (see odds) and some yahoo raised it from 400 to 1000 in early-mid position I put him on A-J or something and figure I will get him to fold because he does not want to lose his tourney this close to the money. I push all in and everyone folds ... he calls... and bam my fat world came to a screeching halt as he flips over AA (pre flop win percentage)... No this was not supposed to happen! This was my tourney to win! He takes the pot and I am left with 600 in chips and the blinds are 200-400. My impatience brought on by hunger, having to wait for the slow lady, boredom, and feeling tired (likely from lack of exercise), killed my tourney hopes.

To add insult to injury the next hand I got dealt AA ( interesting poker stats). I went all in and the big blind called me with QQ I was one hand away from doubling up and going really far into the tourney. One freaking hand (hand ranks).

So I have thought today about how fat I really am and how it affects not just my poker play but every aspect of my life. I think any poker player that is healthy and in shape stands a better chance of making it to the final table, because his body and mind will be willing to go the distance. Lets discuss this mroe in the forums.
